B03: Spectroscopic investigation of surfaces functionalised by switchable molecules (2007-2011)

Summary:

The aim of this project is the distinct identification of the switching state of photoswitchable molecules located on solid surfaces as well as the confirmation of light-induced molecular switching and alignment processes. Alterations in geometric and electronic properties will be measured using direct and inverse valence band photo electron spectroscopy combined with near-edge x-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy in molecular sub-monolayers prepared under well defined ultra high vacuum conditions.
